I grew up in Barrington; left when I was 18 and have since lived in Flagstaff, Seattle, and San Luis Obispo, California. My education in natural healing began at age 19 in Flagstaff when I apprenticed with a master of healing touch (Reiki) and energy medicine. I left Flagstaff for San Diego where I studied massage and acupressure at The San Diego School of Healing Arts. My quest for knowledge in natural healing lead me to the Heartwood Massage Institute where I lived for a year studying all forms of holistic healing as well as hatha yoga. I lived for 4 years in Seattle working for a chiropractor doing massage therapy and practicing meditation and Bikram yoga. Eventually I moved back to California where I studied with Ganga White and Tracy Rich at White Lotus Yoga. The past 5 years that I have been teaching have been the most healthy and dynamic of my life. Teaching has made me strong and open in mind and body and has helped me develop confidence and purpose.

I am so pleased to be a part of the total body yoga team. I love teaching classes and doing body work and feel blessed to have work that I love. I am also currently pursuing an education towards counseling. My dream is to someday combine counseling with the wisdom of yoga.

Beth says, "I was so grateful to find Total Body Yoga, a heart warming studio here in little old Mundelein. Coming from the yoga capital, (California) I was worried about finding a good studio here. I knew this was my place when I took my first class with Silvia. I could tell that yoga for her was about way more than the postures. Plus her music rocks! "

What other hobbies do you have aside from yoga practice?

Running around with my golden retriever 'Bodhi'. Going to see good music. When I am not teaching yoga I also do massage therapy.

What is the title of a book that you have read recently that you could strongly recommend?

Just read the Glass Castle and it made me feel very lucky. I like to read a good fiction or anything inspirational. Illusions by Richard Bach changed my life. So did Be here Now.

What is one of your all-time favorite movies?

All time favorite is Caddyshack but I recently saw Urban Cowboy and that is pretty classic! Musician Stevie Wonderful

What is one of the funniest incidents that occurred in one of your yoga classes?

We were in forward fold and I meant to instruct people to 'allow their hamstrings to open' and I accidentally said, 'allow your hemorrhoids to open'

What is one of your all-time favorite "comfort" foods?

I love chai tea but it is rare to find a good cuppa. I am a cookie monster and home-made chocolate chip are the best.

What is your favorite color?

Sky blue and grass green together

What is one place that you would like to visit in the world? Why?
Places to visit Ireland and India Big Sur is my favorite place in the world.
