Yoga has been a faithful companion since I was run over by a car as a pedestrian over a decade ago. This life changing event brought yoga into my life as part of my recovery. My body and spirit were transformed by this experience and I became dedicated to living a Yogic life since that fateful event. My loving Anusara-inspired Vinyasa Flow teaching style is influenced by more than 10 years of Hatha yoga study and I am gratefully committed to my three primary teachers: Shiva Rea, John Friend, and my students whom I truly love so dearly.

My classes are upbeat and fun, serious and informative, supportive and authentic. I use my own intuition along with people's questions, past injuries, and demonstrations to deepen the learning process. I hope that when students leave class, they are inspired to be good to themselves and thereby kinder to others.

I am deeply honored to serve my students with the intention that while connected to their breath, they might feel each pose with an open heart and a quiet mind. Yoga then becomes a means to explore oneself more deeply in order to better face life’s challenges; many find that beauty and strength naturally emerge as byproducts.

While in the corporate world, I worked for both Inc 500 and Fortune 500 companies as Director of Human Resources, specializing in Training & Development. This parlayed well into opening my own studio and teaching yoga full-time. With over 7,500 hours of yoga teaching experience, I bring inspiration, enthusiasm and playfulness into each class through creative, flowing sequencing and a delightful combination of yoga philosophy and healthy physical alignment. Students often tell me I use the most inspiring music, as they are treated to a fresh, unique playlist of motivating music every class!

I would describe myself as a super gentle, sensitive Cancer with a Pitta/Vata nature. My favorite healing stones are Tigers Eye and Citrine and the Panther is my Totem. This naturally leads me to help others navigate the unknown and face their own fears. When not teaching or practicing yoga, I enjoy watching funny action movies, dancing, cooking for loved ones. I like hanging out, soaking in the sun, planning for new adventures and sipping a cold Corona with my friends. Nature and the relationship of human spirit are my greatest teachers! You'll find me in the mountains or on a beach when not teaching yoga.

To email me privately send to info@totalbodyyoga.com or call me at 847-772-9642. I'd LOVE to hear from you for any or no reason. Do stay in touch my dear friends!

To me the heart of teaching is as Neem Karoli Baba says “Love everyone, serve everyone” I believe yoga is for everybody! I truly hope folks take something meaningful with them into their daily life - an ability to live in the moment with love, honesty, patience and passion!

What other hobbies do you have aside from yoga practice?

I love going to the movies! - any of them really (comedy, action, drama etc). Photography, especially black and white - capturing the simplicity of each person's unique beauty, then using them as gifts for loved ones. Painting both on canvas and experimenting with the walls in my home. Traveling to seek out new experiences both near and far from home. Mostly I just like hanging out and seeing what happens...

"I want to thank my parents for giving me my first yoga book when I was 10 years old. They gave me the gift of yoga and now my dharma is to share it with others."
