Yoga postures can provide a great workout. Many people have come to recognize how yoga practice engages the body and mind, while postures can also help to resolve the long-standing structural imbalances that are the common cause of aches, pains, and injuries. With all these deeply internal benefits, it can be easy to overlook the potential of a yoga sequence to provide a deeply satisfying, whole-body workout.
In this class, participants will strengthen and stretch virtually every muscle in the body, while moving most of the body's joints through their healthy range of motion. The result is a thorough wringing out of stress and tension, which generally leaves participants feeling relaxed, refreshed, and ready for the rest of their day/week.
Suitable for those with 6+ months of yoga experience including basics and level 1 classes or higher.
Scott began practicing yoga as a teenager and refined his practice through his years as a college student/athlete. With a background in physics and biomechanics, Scott deeply explores the logic of the body's anatomical structures and its systems. Scott studied with Hatha Yoga masters Dona Holleman and Ramanand Patel, and spent six years studying intensively with Roger Eischens. By working closely with master teachers, Scott came to recognize the human body as a microcosm of the greater natural world, which inspires his creative and grounded teaching presence.
In addition to Scott’s extensive yoga training, he is also a certified bodyworker and Pilates instructor. Through Zero Balancing (ZB) training, Scott developed greater insight into the workings of the skeleton and how the bones influence the rest of the organism. Through his extensive Pilates training, Scott has deepened his understanding of the body's core and its contribution to wellness and vitality.
Scott is also a dedicated student of the meditation master Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche. He is a Facilitator within the Tergar community, where he facilitates in-person and online Joy of Living meditation programs.
Scott is currently working on an MS at the University of Wisconsin - Madison in the field of Kinesiology, with plans to pursue a Ph.D degree. His research interests include Yoga interventions for those on the autism spectrum.
