What should I wear to class?
Please wear comfortable clothing to class such as shorts, leggings or yoga pants. Please keep jewelry and perfumes to a minimum. You will be asked to remove your shoes and socks as yoga is practiced with bare feet. It is recommended you refrain from eating 2 hours before class.
What is yoga?
Yoga is a comprehensive wellness system that addresses all aspects of a person; mental, physical, emotional and spiritual. Yoga is a Sanskrit word derived from the root “yuj” meaning to bind together, or “to yoke.” The aim of yoga is to unite the powers of the mind, body and emotions under the guidance of your own intelligence. Yoga can provide myriad ways to gain balance in your daily life. The postures can help you to overcome limitations of the body and mind. Yoga, in it’s many forms, cultivates overall wellness, which includes physical fitness, stress relief, inner peace, and spiritual growth.
What is Hatha yoga?
Hatha yoga, the most common type of yoga done in Western culture, unites breath, body and mental focus. If practiced regularly, hatha yoga has numerous benefits including better posture, a healthier heart and much more. The meditative quality of yoga can even alter brain waves.
If I am new to yoga which class would you recommend?
Our restorative, gentle, gentle basics and basics classes are perfect for beginners. Teachers will guide you through simple sequences that will help you relax, calm your central nervous system, increase flexibility and help to strengthen your body. We also offer Intro to Yoga, a 4-part series for beginners, several times throughout the year. Go to “Classes” here on our website for Intro to Yoga offerings.
How much does it cost?
If you are a first time visitor of Total Body Yoga we will welcome you with 2 weeks of unlimited yoga for $30.00. You can try as many classes as you like during this trial period. After you’ve completed the 2 week offer, you can enjoy a 15% discount off of any of our class packages. Our class packages range in prices from $170.00 to $390.00 and we also have an option for monthly, unlimited yoga. See our full price menu under the “Classes” tab here on our website.
How often should I practice yoga?
You can practice yoga every day. It is important to take responsibility for your own yoga practice. Instead of seeing your time on the mat at a “workout,” think of your time spent practicing as a way to gain better understanding of the mind/body/spirit connection. It’s important to choose classes that are appropriate for your level of practice. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask any of our skilled teachers.
What are the benefits of yoga?
The benefits of yoga are too numerous to list and this ancient discipline is gaining the respect of the Western medical community. If practiced regularly (at least 3 times per week), yoga can improve sleep, lower blood pressure, boost immunity, strengthen muscles and bones, increase both physical and mental flexibility, calm the central nervous system, ward off aging and much more.
