Yogi Sprouts: Teaching Yoga to Children

This 5-Hour Workshop will explore the philosophy and practice of yoga and the benefits it can provide to children. Attendees will learn how to adapt important yogic principles to aid children's psychological and physical development. A manual is provided that will include specific behavior management techniques and class structure ideas along with mindfulness, relaxation and breathing techniques. Participants will be given an opportunity to practice utilizing some children's yoga class activities and observe a demonstration class. We will discuss behavior management challenges, adapting to meet special needs and methods to tap creativity. All participants will come away with a variety of practical tools that can be immediately applied in the classroom, in the studio or in every day life. This workshop is appropriate for all those who love and work with children.

About Nancy Nedland: Nancy has worked with children in a variety of settings for several decades. She practiced as a Licensed Psychologist for many years before becoming a registered yoga teacher. Nancy believes that children are natural yogis and that with proper guidance, their inner wisdom can lead tham towards health and well-being. She founded Yogi Sprouts in 2009 in order to help children and their families experience yoga in a way that truly enriches their lives.
